Classroom Procedures
My goal is to have all students leave each level of Spanish with a clear understanding and respect of the language. In order to do this, all students must adhere to a strict behavior policy. All students must arrive to class on time with all necessary supplies. I require all students to be respectful of themselves and others as the property of others or the school. The school handbook must be followed at all times. With little to no distractions in the classroom, all students can enjoy my class and learn to speak a new language.

Discipline
For students who choose not to follow rules, cause disruptions or are disrespectful, the following consequences will result:
1st offense: verbal warning/conference with student
2nd offense: Written warning
3rd offense: 30 min detention
4th offense: 60 min detention
5th offense: Referral to principal
All discipline matters will strictly follow the rules and procedures as outlined in the student handbook.
Grading Policy
Grading policy will follow the guidelines as outlined in the student handbook.
Students Who Are absent
Students that are absent will have the same number of days absent and one additional day to complete any missed assignments and tests. Students that are involved in school activities will submit any assignments and/or projects due while they are gone upon their return to class.
If absent on the day of a test, the student will need to set up a time with me either before or after school to take the test. Students are expected to use designated time in class to complete and turn in all given assignments. If you choose not to complete an assignment during designated class time then you will complete it on your time.
In the event of an absence, it is the student’s responsibility to retrieve the missed assignment from the designated make-up work area.
We will strictly follow the policy as outlined in the student handbook.
Communication
If you need to communicate with me, please email me at [email protected]. It will be the easiest way to get a hold of me.
Electronic Devices
Technology provides students with a fun and interactive way for students to learn. Students are encouraged to bring their devices to class. Devices are required to be face up on the corner of student desks. School-provided chromebooks and iPads may also be available for individual and small group work.
Food & Drink
I understand the importance of good nutrition and realize that students may need a snack mid-morning or late-afternoon. Food and drink items brought into the classroom must be approved by me. Water bottles will be allowed in class at all times. Students are expected to use the trash can to keep areas clean.
Group Work
Students are expected to work in small groups. Each student will have a leadership role within each group. Students who are not performing to expectations may be dismissed from the group and complete work as the sole individual of a team.
Homework
Homework should be completed and returned on the date requested. At the beginning of class, students will need to place the assignment on top of their desk. I will collect the assignment from students at the beginning of class. If a student does not have the homework or it is not completed, I should be informed at the time it is due. In some cases, the homework will be sent to the teacher, electronically.
Tardies
Students not physically within a teacher’s room when the tardy bell rings are considered tardy. This includes returning from lunch. All students are expected to be in class. When out of class, the student should have a pass.
Borrowing Supplies
Students are responsible for bringing supplies to class each day. However, a student may need to borrow supplies from time to time. In order to borrow a supply, the student must provide me with something valuable that will be returned to the student after the supply is returned to the teacher.
Note to Parents
I expect each and every student to work to his or her full potential. Students will be challenged, while also being provided the necessary support to succeed. My goal is to provide students with the necessary skills to confidently communicate in Spanish by the end of the year, regardless of the level. In order to do this, I am here to help. I am available via conferences, emails and phone calls. I wish to communicate with all parents throughout the year. To be able to do this, please ensure that I have current information and know how to best reach each of you. Thank you.
